Round trip with ferry ride on the Nærøyfjord

The Nærøyfjord is something everyone must experience when they are in the area. Securely placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, this is one of the most spectacular strips of fjord and mountains in the country. The ferry that sails here departs from Kaupanger and ends up in Gudvangen. It takes both people and cars. In high season, you should reserve a seat by 3 pm the day before.

On the way to Kaupanger (35 minutes from Solvorn) you can drop by De Heibergske samlingar. - One of Norway's largest and oldest folk museums. Continue on to the Båtmuseet in Amla and Kaupanger Stave Church.

The ferry ride to Gudvangen takes just over 2 hours and is by far one of the most beautiful boat trips you can take. From Gudvangen you can continue to Underdal, this small village that lies just off the main road between Flåm and Gudvangen. Here, cheese is the big thing and you can't leave here without buying the famous white or brown Underdal cheese

After Underdal you will come to Flåm, and Norway's most famous railway line - the Flåm Railway. The Flåm Railway is 20 km long and took 20 years to build. The rail line is about 20 km long and goes through some of the wildest nature.

From Flåm you drive on to Lærdal. You can do this by driving over the mountain to Lærdal, or take the world's longest car tunnel (24.5 km). We recommend the mountain pass, as the view is very good.

Lærdal is known for all the beautiful wooden houses that lie down on "Øyri". Take a walk and end up at the Norwegian Wilderness Center. From Lærdal it is about an hour, including a ferry ride, back to Solvorn.

This is a trip that can take 6 - 8 hours.

Do you have any questions or special requests for your visit?
